more on Michigan Conservation Trail

The Detroit River was so polluted at one time it helped encourage passage of the federal government's Clean Water Act of 1972.

Now the waterway separating Michigan and Canada is touted by some as an example of recovery and restoration. It's one of several sites included in the next wave of Michigan's historical markers.
