Just finished reading Winter Study, Nevada Barr's 2008 mystery novel set on Isle Royale. (It's actually her second novel set there.) At its center is a nonfictional study of moose-wolf interaction that has been going on for 50 years. A preface by Rolf Peterson, the lead researcher, makes the connection complete. It's an excellent suspense story, and the remote island in Lake Superior itself becomes as much a character as part of the atmosphere.
